Narrative Summary:

Dr. Canver received his MD degree from Erciyes University in 1981. He did his general surgery and cardiothoracic surgery training in State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, New York. He held successive academic appointments at SUNY at Buffalo, Dartmouth Medical School, and University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1998, he was appointed as a tenured-professor and endowed Sheridan-Alley Chair at the age of 40 at the Albany Medical College. In 2005, he became the Director, King Faisal Heart Institute within the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center-Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Currently, he is the Vice Founding Chancellor/Rector of Near East University and CEO of Near East University Hospital in Lefkosa, North Cyprus. Dr. Canver holds four current American Board Specialty Certifications and Recertifications. He is a member of 52 prestigious medical societies and organizations worldwide. He is an author of 106 peer-reviewed articles; 49 published scientific abstracts, one book chapter, and he has given 80 international presentations.
