Research Activities

Arrhythmology, autonomic nervous system activity, arterial hypertension, heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathies, echocardiography.

Author of over 200 printed publications.

Clinical Activities

- Until 2000 he has attended electrophysiology laboratory of the Cardiology Unit, University of Bari, by participating as first or second operator to 205 transoesofageal electrophysiology studies, 128 intracavitary, 56 transcatheter ablations by radiofrequency of  slow nodal pathway and of right accessory pathways, external and internal cardioversion of atrial fibrillation and to positioning of temporary pacemaker in emergency.

- From 1998 to date has participated to clinical and research activities of Laboratory for the study of autonomic control of heart rate and for the diagnosis of neuromediate syncope, Cardiology Unit, University of Bari.

- From 2001 to date has contributed to the institution of Heart Failure Unit and to the selection of candidates for Heart Transplantation of the Regional Center of Puglia. From august 2005 he is the head of Heart Failure Unit. He personally executes and/or performs the reports relative to heart failure unit activity, i.e. medical visits, ECG, echocardiographic examinations and Holter recordings.

Congresses and other scientific activities

Participation by invitation as speaker and chairman in numerous national congresses.

Presentation of several abstract, as poster or oral communications, in national and international congresses.

- Reviewer for the following journals: Journal of American College of Cardiology; Biomarkers; Applied Research in Quality of Life; Giornale Italiano di Cardiologia; Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine.
